The next aboombong recording will be out January 1st, 2013. Title is adumbral: études dans le contrôle imprécis - seven shortish tracks that are a departure from the longer ambient tracks released in 2012.  Watch for it on bandcamp and other outlets.

Amanar's Tenere - remixs from Sahel Sounds

Sahel Sounds recently shared some sound files for remix from a 2008 recording session by Amanar; music recorded locally in their home of Kidal in Northern Mali. The Sextants: 1987 demo

Back in the day when A.O.S. was working to dominate the local college music scene in our little corner of the American Southwest, our main rivals in town, along with The Young Pros, were a group of  upstarts called The Sextants. I just ran across this track of theirs from 1987 on soundcloud, so I thought I'd share it with ya'll. 

And to facilitate the head to head comparisons and a nostalgia overload - here's The Young Pros (doing a cover of an A.O.S. song)

Pre-Jonny Cats: The Drones

Dave Chavez (RIP), the solid and heavy anchor for The Jonny Cats was in The Drones in the late 1980's. Here is a video slideshow of one of their tunes. There will be a memorial concert for Dave in Las Cruces next month at Hurricane Alley on the 17th.
