He describes it as "stories, poems, lies."

Wilgira

Been awhile since I did a friend of the show post. My old buddy Keif, from WALTZ BOP SHOP was in a very cool band after our break-up. Wilgira allowed Keif to go more out than WALTZ ever went. Just saw that their stuff is on bandcamp. Check it out.

Sister Black Lagoon

First it was the The Sisters Doom, now Sister Black Lagoon. More from the fertile roots of the Las Cruces, NM music scene circa the mid 1980's Raul, from AOS and his long time collaborator Alex have let their first EP as Sister Black Lagoon drop. Since fishy love was all the rage at the Oscars...it is time for you to give it a try yourself.

Sisters Doom; Dynamo Stairs

Lots going on from the Las Cruces alumni this month.

First up is The Sisters Doom from Vague Choir leader Mark Earnest. Roots metal hitting all the right notes. Just straight up, balls out, rock. Buy it.  Next up two from Dynamo Stairs spanning 30 years of creativity. David Liso of Choke has been releasing music as Dynamo Stairs for 30 years. This month he has released new music and a great historical re-issue of his first release. This one includes unreleased tracks from 30 years ago and a pristine re-mastering of the original cassette release from 1988. And, impossible to ignore is a new plead for sanity from Dynamo Stairs with new songs in a well-practiced mode, Seasoned. Check it.

I-25 - various artists (1988)

An old buddy from Las Cruces just posted this compilation from 1988 on his Soundcloud. It includes AOS and a one-off project I was in called Ferdinand and Imelda's Ragtime Band (with Grant from Choke) Lots of variety from the spectrum of mid-eighties college underground styles and future members of Vague Choir, & Jonny Cats. Those of you who pay attention to posts here will recognize Gahenna Noy$ Choir, The Young Professionals, and Dynamo Stairs (still going strong almost 30 years later). Digitizing this has been on my to-do list for ages, so thanks to David Wheeler (of Studio 603) for this.

Vague Choir - Great Big Fight

The latest from Vague Choir. Vague Choir is headed up by now guitairist, and former Splayfeet drummer/frontman Mark Earnest and is at the center of the flourishing Reno, Nevada genreless genre scene. Check it out.
Also check out Mark's cover of a couple of old AOS tracks here.

Dynamo Stairs - Art Direct

Dynamo Stairs has a new one out. Get it (name your price) on bandcamp. This one is a particularly nostalgic take on pop tropes from the last 30 years or so.
Dave is, of course, the main singer/song-writer from Choke.

Soundclouding: Clay Christopher Harris

I can honestly say my favorite musical experience ever was seeing Gehenna Noi$e Choir play in my living room back in the mid 1980's (see above). No better outsider music was ever made. Clay was one of the guitarists and the creative mass attractor. He's got a couple new things posted on soundcloud. Still raw and cool to my ear.
